“American Woman” or “God Woman”?

So, in Psychology today (my favorite class…..[insert sarcasm here]) we got onto the subject of men in America purchasing mail order brides. Why do men do this? The women that come from other countries pretty much obey the men who bought them. They don’t disrespect, demand, or try to dominate the relationship, which is the exact reason why these men want them so bad. I’m in no way advocating or advertising this “market,” so to speak, but it is a very good illustration of what is so wrong in America’s culture today.

Having a firm stance with Christ, the bible is my go-to with anything and everything. That is what I base my life on. In it, we learn that men basically need respect from a woman in their marriage. In contrast, a woman’s primary need is love, but that is not what I am going to be focusing on now. I’m going to look more at the men’s side of it. Here’s my argument: the typical American woman today is the cause of men ordering their mates from foreign countries.

Throughout history, we’ve heard stories of many brave and passionate women who have fought to make a difference in the world without letting gender hold them back. Susan B. Anthony, Louisa May Alcott, Amelia Earhart, Anne Hutchinson, Annie Oakley, Rosa Parks, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and many more admirable women have shook up the world during their time on earth. I have TREMENDOUS respect for these fabulous role models and I hold them in very high regards. They set out to make an impact and left with a legacy and hope for all women.

Then came the feminist movement. At first, it was a very noble and honorable drive. But now, it has been taken way too far. Women as a whole do not respect their husbands and do not let them be the head of the house like he was purposed to be from the very beginning. He should be the authoritative figure, the obvious supreme being of the household, etc. This is God’s purpose for man, as revealed by Him in Ephesians 5, when He commands: “22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.” SUBMIT. This concept of submission has dwindled as the years go by.

And this is a very brief and simple observation from my perspective. Just to make you think…

This is a sad state that the U.S. is in now culture-wise. This issue has been bugging me and really bothering me. I have vowed to not conform to the “American Woman.” I want to be “God’s Woman.” Because that’s all that matters. I want to be the woman described in Proverbs 31. Go check it out.
