This is my Story, This is my Song

Phew! I am finally taking a breath after an adventurous summer. I’m sitting here in my dorm after a long, successful day of moving in. Transitioning. It’s all seeming real now! I know people go to college everyday and every year, but I’m treasuring this moment. It’s a big step, and I’m taking it head on.

My anthem right now actually translates to two different songs, both by the same artist. “My Story” and “Change in the Making” by Addison Road.

*Side note, if you haven’t gotten their new album–get it!*

The first, “My Story” has beautiful lyrics that reflect the cry of my heart in it’s rawest, most true form. Check it out:

If this is my story, if this is my song
Then I want to be a part of something beautiful
If this is my journey, then show me your road
Wherever you lead me in this world I want to go
There’s just too many times I only think of me
‘Cause I get so consumed with my opportunities
When my last breath brings me to the feet of God
I want to hear him say I lived for his glory

Colors paint the evening sky
The sun is shining giving light
Stars light up the atmosphere
But we’re the reason God came here

We are his story, we are his song
A beautiful melody that shows the world his love
When we’re on this journey, when we’re on this road
We are a part of the greatest story ever told

Every time I hear this song I catch a different part and dwell on it. There’s so much to process and it’s simply beautiful. I don’t know how else to put it. I’m on this journey, as is every other lion chaser. And to think wer are a part of the greatest story ever told knocks me to my knees. It’s so overwhelming. And this is my heart.

The next song I’ve been marinating in is “Change in the Making” which just elaborates my constant reminder to myself that  I am and will always not BE but I will always BECOMING:

There’s a better version of me
That I can’t quite see
But things are gonna change
Right now I’m a total mess and
Right now I’m completely incomplete
But things are gonna change
‘Cause you’re not through with me yet
This is redemption’s story
With every step that I am taking
Every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
This is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be
I am a change in the making

From the dawn of history
You make new and you redeem
From a broken world to a broken heart
You finish what you start in everything
Like a river rolls into the sea
We’re not who we’re going to be
But things are going to change

I am living redemption’s story
With every step that I am taking
Every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
This is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be
I am a change in the making

This is so powerful because this song isn’t only for the broken spirit. It’s for every single soul who is passionately pursuing God. NO one has arrived. God is constantly molding and shaping us into who he has created us to be. With each new step in life, I continue to be changed by my Savior.

So these are my anthems. And I’m so excited to see what God has planned for me. I know I have a lot of prayer over me and I am truly blessed to be able to say that. I have lifted everything to Him fully, because I don’t see how anyone survives any other way.
