It’s funny how God puts things in your life so perfectly timed. He knows when you’ll see this, talk to this person, hear that, go through this; and he has a purpose for each moment. And each time I encounter anything as such in life, I stand in awe. For the trillionth time no doubt, I am once again bewildered by my Savior Jesus Christ.
So I posted a link on Facebook a couple days ago to Owl City’s blog. He wrote about the the supernatural experience he has when he hears the old hymn, In Christ Alone. He is so blown away by the power of our God that he is brought to the point of tears time and time again. He recorded the song that night when he had one of these encounters and it’s on the blog as well. Read it here. Once you read it, listen to the song and tell me you heart isn’t flooded with the mysterious beauty of Jesus. Now go read the comments. Half of them are from unbelievers, and many of THEM have to admit the beauty and wonder in this song!!
Are you hearing me people? THIS IS HOW AWESOME AND MAJESTIC OUR GOD IS! Even non-believers HAVE to admit the wonder of this. Our King is so mighty that even the demons–the enemy’s own workers–believe in God and shudder at the sound of the name of Jesus Christ. Shudder!!!
Are you getting me now people? I’m not meaning to sound demanding or crazy, but I can’t get over this! To know this, that Christ is so much more powerful that we can ever even begin to comprehend is unfathomable in the least.
In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all-in-all
Here in the love of Christ I stand
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ
No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand
